How to Split PDF

1

Upload your PDF

Drop your PDF file into the upload area. A visual thumbnail preview of every page will appear so you can see the content.

2

Select pages to extract

Click individual pages, enter a range like 3–7, or choose a fixed interval to split the entire document into equal parts.

3

Download the result

Click Split and download your new PDF containing only the selected pages. Multiple outputs are packaged in a ZIP file.

Not every recipient needs every page of a report, and not every system can handle a hundred-page upload. Our PDF splitter gives you surgical control over which pages stay and which become their own standalone documents, all through an intuitive visual interface.

There are several ways to split. You can extract a continuous range — pages 5 through 12, for example — into a new file. You can pick individual pages from anywhere in the document to create a custom selection. Or you can split at fixed intervals, turning a 60-page PDF into six 10-page files automatically. The visual page previewer shows thumbnails so you can confirm exactly which content ends up in each output file before committing.

Preserving structural integrity matters. When you extract pages, the resulting PDF retains selectable text, vector graphics, and resolution-matched images. Hyperlinks that point within the extracted range continue to work. Bookmarks that fall within the selected pages are carried over as well, maintaining navigability for the reader.

In professional contexts, splitting serves a variety of purposes. Lawyers isolate specific exhibits from a lengthy filing. Human-resources teams extract individual offer letters from a batch-generated PDF. Publishers separate chapters for digital distribution. Researchers pull figures and tables from journal articles for presentations. In each scenario, having a precise, lossless extraction tool eliminates the need for awkward workarounds like screenshots or re-scanning.

Privacy is handled with the same rigor as all PDFMinify tools. Uploaded files are encrypted in transit, processed without persistent storage, and automatically deleted. No page of your document is cached or indexed.

Free users can split files up to 50 pages. Pro plans extend the limit to 500 pages and add the ability to split by bookmarks — each top-level bookmark becomes its own file, which is ideal for separating chapters in e-books or sections in policy manuals. Combined with our merge tool, you can rearrange content across documents in any way you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extract non-consecutive pages from a PDF?
Yes. Click individual page thumbnails to select any combination — for example, pages 1, 4, and 9 — and they will be combined into a single new PDF in the order you selected. This is useful for building custom documents from larger reports.
What happens to links and bookmarks when I split a PDF?
Internal links that reference pages within the extracted range remain functional. Bookmarks that fall within the selected page set are preserved in the output file. Links pointing to pages outside the extracted range are removed to avoid broken references.
Can I split a scanned PDF?
Yes. The splitter works with any valid PDF, whether it contains selectable text or scanned images. Each page is extracted exactly as it appears in the original, with no quality loss.
Is there a limit on the number of pages I can split?
Anonymous and free users can split documents up to 50 pages. Pro plans support files with up to 500 pages. Business plans extend the limit to 5,000 pages, suitable for technical manuals and large archives.
