The tool supports two levels of protection. An open password prevents anyone without the password from viewing the document at all. A permissions password allows viewing but restricts actions like printing, copying text, or editing form fields. You can set both passwords independently, giving you granular control over what recipients can do with the file.

Encryption uses the AES-256 standard, the same algorithm trusted by governments and financial institutions worldwide. Once encrypted, the PDF cannot be opened or modified without the correct password — even if the file is intercepted during transmission or copied from a shared drive.
